# Evidence & Citation Checklist (v1.0)

14 binary checks for any report — AI-drafted or human-written.
Each item either holds, or the draft goes back. Run the interactive
version at [atomstorm.ai/en/tools/evidence-citation-checklist/](/en/tools/evidence-citation-checklist/);
it generates a copyable audit report and carries the failed items into
a revision request.

## Sources exist

- [ ] Every factual claim maps to at least one named source.
- [ ] Every source link opens — no dead, placeholder, or login-walled URLs.
- [ ] Each source is labeled by what it is (docs, dataset, vendor page, press).

## Quotes and numbers are real

- [ ] Direct quotes were checked verbatim against the source text, in context.
- [ ] Every number traces to a source — no invented or rounded-up figures.
- [ ] Dates were spot-checked against the input material.
- [ ] Confidence labels say why — bare "high" or "low" does not count.

## Gaps are declared

- [ ] A "what we did NOT verify" list exists — a bare "all verified" fails.
- [ ] Contradictions between sources are surfaced as conflicts, not averaged away.
- [ ] Inferences are labeled as inferences, not stated as findings.

## Provenance is traceable

- [ ] AI-drafted passages were read in full by a human, not skimmed.
- [ ] The draft records how it was produced: who or what, and which revision.
- [ ] Input materials are linked so a reader can retrace them.

## It survives leaving your tool

- [ ] The exported file opens cleanly outside the tool that made it.

Scoring: 14 items, no partial credit. Keep the audit report with the
document — it is the answer to "how do we know this?" six months later.
